Rick Werner
Rick Werner has dedicated his career to the Sheet Metal Industry, with nearly four decades of experience in the field. Since beginning his apprenticeship with SMW Local 104 in 1985, Rick has developed a deep understanding of the industry’s demands and complexities, always leading with integrity and professionalism. His journey from Apprentice to President and Business Manager of Local 104 speaks to his commitment and expertise, providing him with an extensive network and a strong grasp of industry standards and trends.
Rick’s experience positions him as a reliable, knowledgeable partner for contractors looking to work with Local 104. His numerous roles within Local 104 over the years has built his reputation as a leader who not only advocates for quality and craftsmanship but also deeply understands contractors' needs. Rick is passionate about fostering collaborative, productive partnerships that enhance industry standards and support both workers and contractors alike.
Matt Vallis
Growing up around construction, Matt started his career with his grandfather’s general contracting company, where he learned the ropes of building custom homes. Those early days taught him the value of hard work and craftsmanship, sparking a lifelong dedication to the industry. In 2006, craving a new challenge, he found his way to the sheet metal industry. For the past 18 years, Matt has immersed himself in architectural, residential, and commercial work, leading large-scale projects and having the privilege of mentoring apprentices on job sites and in the classroom.
In 2015, Matt took on a role as a part-time instructor for the Local 104 Bay Area JATC, becoming a full-time instructor in 2016. His journey evolved into a Business Development Representative with Local 104 in 2018, where he built strong relationships with HVAC contractors and workers. In 2021, he became a Business Representative, working closely with contractors and union members. Serving as Director of Business Development since January 2023, Matt is excited to continue fostering growth and innovation in the Sheet Metal Industry, a role that truly reflects his commitment to progress, excellence, and innovation.
